Avinash Satwalekar
Avi Satwalekar is the president of Franklin Templeton Asset Management (India) Private Limited. He is responsible for India's retail and institutional business for Franklin Templeton Asset Management. Before presuming his present-day role, he served as the Chief Business Officer & Country Head of Malaysia. Upon graduation from the University of Bombay in India, he got a bachelor's degree in commerce. Moving ahead, he earned his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with an emphasis in finance. He is a (CFA) Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder and an esteemed member of the CFA Society of San Francisco (CFASF) & CFA Institute, among many others.
Mr. Satwalekar continues his services as the Chairman of (VCBF) Vietcombank Fund Management, a joint venture between Franklin Templeton and Vietcombank in Vietnam. He was previously the CEO and CIO for VCBF, based in Ho Chi Minh City. He oversaw the combined business and investment activities of the group. Under his leadership, Franklin Templeton was one of the first asset managers to launch an open-ended retail fund in Vietnam in 2013. Mr. Satwalekar joined Franklin Templeton in 1996 as a management trainee working on Franklin Convertible Securities Fund from March 1997 to June 1998. Before Franklin, he worked for DSP Merrill Lynch in the Debt Origination Group.

Previously, Mr. Satwalekar was the Country Head of Malaysia and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Franklin Templeton Asset Management (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd, and was responsible for developing the retail and institutional business in Malaysia. Aside from his responsibilities in Malaysia, Mr. Satwalekar continues to serve as Chairman of Vietcombank Fund Management (VCBF), a joint venture between Franklin Templeton and Vietcombank in Vietnam. Mr. Satwalekar was previously the CEO and CIO for VCBF based in Ho Chi Minh City. He oversaw the combined business and investment activities of the group and under his leadership, Franklin Templeton was one of the first asset managers to launch an open-ended retail fund in Vietnam in 2013.
