Anand Pejawar
Anand Pejawar is an industry veteran with over 37 years of professional experience in the BFSI Industry. His significant expertise ranges from about 19 years in Life Insurance and 14 years in the Banking Industry. He has been instrumental in setting up the most productive integrated model of Bank Insurance and Micro Insurance in SBI Life Insurance which is today considered a trendsetter in the sector. He has also represented the Life Insurance sector in various committees formed by the Government of India and IRDI and RBI from time to time. As of now, he is in charge of SBI Life Insurance Company Limited's Operations, Information Technology, and International Business departments.
In addition to his MDP programs from the IIM Kolkata and ISB Hyderabad, he is also an alumnus of Columbia Business School, Manhattan, New York.
Being a science graduate never crossed his wildest thoughts that a day would come when he is this close and into the BFSI segment. He was in his second year BSc way back in 1982-83 when he lost his father, who was merely 50.
He was force-fed into joining LIC because of his father's desire. So a second-year microbiology student entered the enigmatic BFSI Universe. As the saying goes, "Man proposes, and God disposes" Anand followed in his father's footsteps and got into LIC on a compassionate basis as per their company policy after his father passed away and was burdened with the responsibility of bringing the family's sole bread earner.
At that time, it was common knowledge that if you are in LIC, you must brush up on Law. Hence he joined Casey College and did that, and he received an offer for a cooperative bank job. That is how he got into the cooperative banking segment, and there has been no looking back since then. I worked for several banks and joined foreign banks. In his long career journey, he has worked with several organizations, such as MAX, a retail channel. At that time, it didn't have an alternate or supplement distribution channel. So, there he had an opportunity to start a unique franchisee channel, where they began with this franchise channel. Then with support and guidance, they started the venue sales channel first time in the insurance industry.
Mr. Anand Pejawar, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of SBI General Insurance Company Ltd. Before he was appointed DMD with SBI General, he was associated with SBI Life Insurance for almost 17 years. He reported to the MD & CEO in his last posting as president. He was backed by a vast experience of 38 years which ranges from Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to Banking (Cooperative Banking to local Banks and international Banking), Financial Distribution to the Top Management of SBI Life Insurance.
As of now, he is in charge of SBI Life Insurance Company Limited's Operations, Information Technology, and International Business departments.
