Prasun Sikdar

Prasun Sikdar has 22 years of leadership experience in financial services and deep insurance knowledge. Before joining Manipal Cigna, he was the Group President and Global Head at Yes Bank, where he grew vital bancassurance and managed mutual fund alliances and partnerships.

Since the beginning of their life, he has been a sports enthusiast with a solid athletic background, for which he credits his parents for the fantastic athletic gene pool he inherited from them. As a result, he is one of India's fittest CEOs.

He started his marathon journey in 2015 when he first observed his ex-colleagues from ICICI Prudential Life Insurance grooming for various kinds of marathons. Posting their achievements on social media made him wonder and admire them even more. It deeply inspired him and lit up the latent talent that, without exception, resided in him. To date, he has been an active participant in full marathons and ultra, both Nationally and Internationally. His most outstanding achievement is representing India in the Comrades Marathon, the most prestigious 87 km Ultra Marathon race Globally, held in South Africa, 2019, which he proudly completed in nearly 10 hours and 45 minutes and proudly owned the Indian Flag on Foreign soil.

Prasun's five principles to succeed in life are Self-discipline, Consistency, the Ability to accept failures, Humility, and Going the extra mile. He comes from a very humble, lower-middle-class Bengali family. He grew up with two brothers who were more than 11 years older, and his life was not rainbows or sunshine. But that's what made him strong and resilient. As an industrial trainee, he worked at Citibank for two and a half years following his graduation and post-graduation in Economics. He then moved to GE Capital and signed up with SBI cards to launch their first G SBI cards in India. He remained in the founding team until he was moved to the new sun-rising insurance industry and joined ICICI Prudential Life Insurance. He built ICICI Prudential from scratch when there were no offices and constantly worked hard to move ahead.

Currently, he is the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer at ManipalCigna Health Insurance Company Limited, overseeing the growth, profitability, and sustainability of Manipal Cigna.With almost three decades of experience spanning leadership roles in large and diverse BFSI organizations: Life Insurance, Health Insurance, Banking, and Credit cards.

He never said no to any new responsibility that came along the way. Success isn't measured as to how far you've come but by how far you've traveled. This is the philosophy he adheres to in life. He believes the past is in the past, and one cannot move back in time and change it; thus, one should constantly move forward in life and never give up.
