We often make excuses for not doing things as we feel contained by different challenges, but these two hours of session gave an altogether different outlook of facing obstacles. Bajaj Capital organized this motivational session at Chinmaya Mission, New Delhi, which was attended by more than 400 guests. After the session was concluded, a crowd packed auditorium offered standing ovation to this superwomen, Deepa Malik, who not just changed perspective of people sitting in that hall but proved that there is nothing beyond self-determination. If you think you can, you definitely will.
With almost no sensation in 70% body, no movement below chest level, any ordinary person would have spent his/her life strangled to a bed. But she decided to fight, tussle with challenges that have been thrown by life. And if you are wondering what she did, widen the canvas of your imagination because what she achieved can go way beyond any ones expectation.
-First woman to be awarded an Arjuna Award in the severely handicapped category.
-Won two gold medals (javelin and discus) at the Malaysian Open Athletics Championship.
-Achieved a world ranking of No.3 in her category of sports.
-Two new Asian records at the World Games at Sharjah.
-Two bronze medals including a silver medal at the World athletics Championship.
-A bronze medal at the Para - Asian games held in China.
-Entered the Limca book of records THRICE, for feats in swimming biking and rallying.
A sports person, athlete, biker, rally driver, restaurateur, mother of two and above all an inspiration for many others. She truly deserves the tag of "Super Women''. After her interaction with the audience, honorable chairman of Bajaj Capital, Shri KK Bajaj presented a vote of thanks and facilitated Deepa with a token of appreciation. Deepa later joined other guests for dinner and continued her discussion with the crowd. Her astonishing journey continues as she is now training for Paralympics.
